Im Auftrag der EU-Ratspräsidentschaft (derzeit bekanntlich Spanien) richtet die FECYT (eine Stiftung des spanischen Forschungsministeriums, die u.a. die News-Plattform https://www.plataformasinc.es betreibt) vom 12. bis 13. Mai 2010 in Madrid eine internationale Konferenz zu Trends und Strategien in der Wissenschaftskommunikation sowie zu deren sozialen Dimensionen aus – das Media for Science Forum (Webseite). Vor allem wird es um die Herausforderung „Internet” für Wissenschafts-Journalisten, -Verlage und -PR-Manager gehen. Neben Praxisberichten und Erfolgsbeispielen wird auch der aktuelle Stand der Kommunikationsforschung (PUSH etc.) diskutiert.
Gleich nach der offiziellen Eröffnung (1230-1400 Uhr) werde ich mit einigen Kollegen Lösungswege vorstellen, wie das Web 2.0 künftig noch effektiver in der Wissenschaftskommunikation zum Einsatz kommen kann. Unter anderem stellen wir neue interaktive Anwendungen für die Wissenschaftsdebatte der Zukunft vor – mehr hierzu in Kürze an dieser Stelle.
Seit heute und bis zum 13. April können sich Journalisten und PR-Kollegen mit Bewerbungsformular und englischem Lebenslauf für eines der 50 Reisestipendien à 500 Euro bewerben (grantsmediaforscience@fecyt.es). Weitere Informationen online.

Die Konferenz findet in Kooperation mit dem europäischen Dachverband der Organisationen für Wissenschaftsjounalismus EUSJA (European Union of Science Journalists Association) statt, wird gefördert von der EU-Kommission und gesponsert von der Zeitung „Público“.
On behalf of the Presidency of the European Council (at the moment: Spain), the FECYT (a foundation of the Spanish Ministry of Science and Innovation, e.g. running the news platform https://www.plataformasinc.es) will hold an international Conference about trends and strategies in science communication and its social dimensions, from 12th to 13th May 2010 (Madrid) – the Media for Science Forum. Particularly, the conference will deal with the challenge „Internet” for science journalists, publishers, and PR managers. Besides best-practice reports and success stories, the conference will also address the status quo of communication research (PUSH etc.).
Right after the official opening, from 1230 to 1400 p.m., me and some colleagues will present and discuss possible solutions of how to effectively deploy Web 2.0 technologies in science communication. From today on until 13th April, journalists and PR colleagues can apply for one of the 50 travel grants (500 Euros each) – by filling out a form and providing an english CV (grantsmediaforscience@fecyt.es). Please find more information online.
FECYT will also start an international blog on science journalism in April. Furthermore, there will be live blogging during the conference.
