My new book is published
My 26th book was published a few days ago. “Codebreakers vs. Codemakers” is about the history of encryption technology. Of course, there is a lot of new content.
Unsolved ciphers, ingenious codebreakers, unbelievable incidents – these and more are the topics of my book “Codebreakers versus Codemakers,” published a few days ago. The work, subtitled “The Fascinating History of Encryption,” is my 26th book. Of course, the Voynich manuscript, the Zodiac killer and the Enigma also appear in it – to name just a few examples.
As you can read on the title page, this is the fourth edition of this book. Of course, I have completely reworked the content. For example, there are now several in-depth chapters on encryption and crime – a topic that is always well received on my blog. Other chapters are titled “Encryption in Prison” and “The Ciphers of Spies.” Quantum cryptography and post-quantum cryptography are also presented in a vivid way.
Codebreakers versus code makers
The idea to write a book about the history of cryptology from ancient times to the present came to me almost 20 years ago. The first result was called “The World of Secret Signs” and appeared in 2004.
In 2007, the successor came onto the market – for the first time under the title “Codebreakers versus Codemakers. This was also the name of the third edition, which appeared in 2014.
Even then, I wrote a blog article about the new release. As you can see from the following photo, I look only slightly older today than I did eight years ago.
The fourth attempt
So now the fourth edition has been published. After the previous editions were published by the small W3L publishing house, the renowned Springer publishing house has now taken over “Codemacher gegen Coknacker”. This should significantly increase the book’s reach. Springer-Verlag (not to be confused with the publishing house Axel Springer) is considered an international leader for scientific topics.
As my readers know, I have already been to London, Paris, Rome, New York, San Francisco, and Montreal, among other places, to do research in archives and museums. I also keep coming across new information on historical encryption techniques in specialist journals and on the Internet. In addition, I often receive valuable tips from my readers.
I am very happy that my new book is now on the market. I would be even more pleased about some reviews on Amazon.
