There is now another video on my new Youtube channel. It’s about murderers and blackmailers who were caught because they made a mistake when using the computer.

Deutsche Version

“Kriminal Digital” is the name of my new YouTube channel, and the name says it all: I present true crimes there that took place online or in which digital forensics played a role. This also, but not only, involves encryption.

After the positive reactions to my first episode “When criminals encrypt”, I have now published a second one. It is titled “The crucial mistake”. It’s about murderers, blackmailers and criminal hackers who were caught because they made a rookie mistake in using computer technology. It’s hard to believe the trivial ways in which many a gangster’s career has ended after decades – a careless phone call or a seemingly innocuous computer printout can be all it takes.

Here is the new episode:

Another note for the English-speaking readers or viewers: Cipherbrain reader Doc Cool has thankfully pointed out that YouTube offers automatically generated English subtitles:

Quelle/Source: Youtube

By clicking on “cc” you can switch the subtitles on and off (depending on the browser, another symbol with the same meaning may be displayed at this point). By clicking on the cogwheel (third symbol from the left) you can set the language of the subtitles.

Of course, this new video series is still in the experimental stage. Suggestions and criticism are welcome. For example, I am not yet completely satisfied with the sound quality of the videos. Maybe a reader here has a tip or two. In particular, I would be interested to know which microphone is best suited for the iPhone. I would also be happy to receive any other tips about the sound quality.

I wish all viewers a lot of fun!

If you want to add a comment, you need to add it to the German version here.
