TV documentary series on the history of cryptology starts tomorrow
On August 15, 2022, the TV documentary series “Cracking the Code” will start on the History Channel UK and on Curiosity Stream. I have several appearances in it.
Last year I had the pleasure of traveling to London to participate in a television shoot for the production company Blink Films. I gave interviews about the Zodiac killer, Enigma, Enchrochat and a few other topics. Everything I said, I had to say twice – in German and English.

Overall, the shoot was great fun, even if the trip was quite annoying at times because of Covid-19. I needed several tests, and the lines at the airport were long.
Cracking the Code
Ten months after filming, the documentary series “Cracking the Code” starts tomorrow (August 15, 2022) on the History Channel UK. The series is also available in the Curiosity Stream.

After the premiere on August 15, the seven further episodes will follow in a weekly rhythm, each on a Monday at 10 p.m. British time. As far as I know, I will be featured extensively in two of the episodes, namely episode 2 (Aug. 22, 2022) and episode 7 (Sept. 26, 2022). Here is an episode guide, but it only mentions six episodes (sorry, I don’t know which is correct).
How can one watch the series?
Unfortunately, it’s not entirely clear to me how and if History Channel UK is available in German-speaking countries. Maybe a reader knows more. It would of course also be interesting to know how to receive this channel in the UK and the USA. I will gladly accept hints.
You can subscribe to the Curiosity stream over the Internet for about $20 a year. I just did that. My first impression is that it is a sensible investment, as there are masses of documentaries on interesting topics to watch.

Cracking the Code” will soon also be shown on German television, on the channel WELT (formerly N24). The broadcast dates and the German title of the series have not yet been determined.
I’m definitely looking forward to it, because as far as I know there has never been such an in-depth TV series on cryptology. In addition, I am of course curious about my own appearances, which I have not yet seen.
