Online und kostenlos: Die HistoCrypt 2021

In 11 Tagen findet die HistoCrypt 2021 statt. Corona-bedingt werden die Vorträge dieses Mal online gehalten. Die Teilnahme ist kostenlos.

Mit der HistoCrypt-Konferenzserie verbinde ich viele schöne Erinnerungen. 2012 gab es den ersten Vorläufer dieser Veranstaltungsreihe, als sich gut 20 Krypto-Enthusiasten in Heusenstamm bei Frankfurt trafen. Stargast war damals David Kahn. Nach zwei weiteren Konferenzen in Kassel trafen wir uns 2017 in Smolenice, 2018 in Uppsala (Schweden) und 2019 in Mons (Belgien).

Ich habe mehrere Videos anlässlich von HistoCrypt-Konferenzen erstellt. Das folgende ist beispielsweise 2019 in Mons entstanden:

Nach 2019 kam leider Corona und sorgte dafür, dass die HistoCrypt 2020 ausfallen musste. Auch 2021 konnte keine Präsenzveranstaltung abgehalten werden. Dafür wird es dieses Jahr aber immerhin eine verkürzte Online-Ausgabe geben. Sie findet am 20. September 2021 statt. Die Teilnahme ist kostenlos.

Organisiert wird die HistoCrypt 2021 hauptsächlich von Dr. Carola Dahlke vom Deutschen Museum in München und Prof. Arno Wacker von der Universität der Bundeswehr in München. Vielen Dank an die beiden!

Das Programm ist dieses Mal zwar kurz, aber äußerst interessant. Hier ist ein Überblick:

Als Höhepunkt gibt es um 16 Uhr einen Vortrag mit dem Titel “Solving the Zodiac Killer’s Cipher”, gehalten von Dave Oranchak, Jarl Van Eycke und Sam Blake. Wie schon mehrfach erwähnt, ist das Lösen der zweiten Zodiac-Nachricht nach über 50 Jahren der größte nichtmilitärische Dechiffrier-Erfolg der Geschichte.

Vor dem Zodiac-Vortrag wird es einen Workshop zum Codex Rohonci, einem bekannten verschlüsselten Buch, geben. Er wird von Levente Király und Gábor Tokai gehalten, über deren Lösung des Codex ich vor ein paar Jahren berichtet habe. Nach wie vor ist aber nicht klar, ob diese Lösung korrekt ist. Moderator des Workshops ist Benedek Láng.

Anmeldung

Weitere Informationen zur HistoCrypt 2021 gibt es hier. Man kann sich mit einer Mail an die Adresse histocrypt2021@deutsches-museum.de registrieren. Laut Webseite war der 5. September Anmeldeschluss. Ich habe mich aber gestern noch einmal erkundigt: Nach wie vor kann sich jeder anmelden, auch kurz vor der Veranstaltung. Da es sich um eine Online-Konferenz handelt, gibt es keine Obergrenze für die Teilnehmer.

Leider werde ich selbst beruflich bedingt erst am späteren Nachmittag zur Konferenz stoßen können. Trotzdem würde ich mich freuen, dort viele meiner Leser zu treffen.

    My name is Eugen Nicolaescu and I am from Romania.
    The theme of the Die HistoCrypt 2021 event is commendable and tempting. I’m very sorry that I don’t speak German so I could participate.
    The publication in Romania of the work of Mrs. Viorica Enăchiuc “Rohonczi Codex – Deciphering, transcribing and translating”, from 2002, aroused my interest. Finally, I wanted to check the sustainability of Mrs. Enăchiuc’s solution. I found that the author had made a series of mistakes that disqualified her work.     In 2019, the 2013 text was published in the form of a booklet.
    Unfortunately I did not have the opportunity to read the work of Kiraly and Tokaji, only comments from third parties (e.g. https://ciphermysteries.com/2018/06/03/kiraly-and-tokais-rohonc-codex-decryption etc.).
    In order to be able to challenge Mrs. Enăchiuc’s “solution”, I insisted on the structure and particularities of the manuscript not reflected in the author’s solution who mistakenly established the reading order of the pages and the reading order of the rows within the pages, arbitrarily divided the text into chapters, etc.).
    Using repeated sequences from the manuscript, I highlighted the correct order of reading the manuscript (as a work written for Arabic or Jewish readers).
    I pointed out the presence of many enumerations and sub-enumerations in the codex, on which occasion the symbols of some digits and numbers were identified.
    I have shown that the manuscript is structured in chapters, which end and begin in the vicinity of the drawings. Moreover, I highlighted a stereotype of the beginnings of chapters.
    I pointed out that the numbering of floating pages 1, 2, 3, 7 does not correspond to their logical sequence.
    In the appendix (https://www.dropbox.com/s/gpfpc62hyoyrvx0/appendix.pdf?dl=0), I bring to your attention some considerations concerning the last two contributions mentioned above, which have not apparently been highlighted by other authors.
    I hope that the aspects reported by me are within the thematic scope of Die HistoCrypt 2021 regarding the Rohonczi Manuscript.
